Article: Samuel's play pleases Alvarez But quarterback still seeks first Big Ten TD pass of '96

The University of Wisconsin is 0-4 in the Big Ten. During those same four games the Badgers are without a touch-down pass. Is there s correlation? UW coach Barry Alvarez doesn't think so. In fact, he will go a step further.

Alvarez is quite pleased with his quarterback, sophomore Mike Samuel.

"I have no complaints with Mike," Alvarez said. "I think he's doing a very good job." Samuel, who has completed 57.7% of his passes this season going into the game today against Purdue, has distinguished himself on two other important levels in his first year as UW's starter: running and the ability to withstand a beating.
