One mute swan was ill. Another was injured. Both were miles
apart in animal shelters until the suspected mates were united
recently in Charles Davis' back yard.
Davis, who operates a wild game farm, was contacted by naturalist
Nancy Frank to become a recipient of the swans.
Davis has other wild birds, including trumpeter swans, on his
10-acre farm.
A naturalist brought a single wayward swan into Frank's Wildlife
in Need Center in the Town of Ottawa Nov. 14 for care. The swan had
been seen dazed near a roadside parking lot and did not even flinch
when trucks roared past, Frank said.
There were reports that another swan had been at the lot and was
