They were Glamour. They were Talent. They were Art and Movement
and Song.
And they left us in 1996.
The list of the entertainment and pop greats who died in 1996 is
long and poignant. Death touched almost every generation.
It took away some who we thought would last forever because they
seemed to have been with us forever, such as George Burns and Dorothy
Lamour.
Some on the list were tragically cut down too soon, such as Tupac
Shakur and Jonathan Larson.
Their deaths left voids in all aspects of entertainment, from film
to music to dance. And while the starring lineup was the most
obviously diminished, the ranks of behind-the-scenes greats
director Norman Rene, songwriter Irving Gordon ...
