When Milwaukee Pius and Milwaukee Marquette meet Saturday night at
Hart Park for the 55th time since 1942, the victor will have the
inside track to the Metro Conference title this season.
History tells us Marquette should have the edge.
The Hilltoppers have dominated the rivalry between the two storied
schools, back to the days when they competed in the old Catholic
Conference. The Hilltoppers hold a 39-15 advantage in the series,
which dates to 1942.
The Popes have beaten the Hilltoppers just three times since the
1975 season, with two of the victories coming in the same season:
1992. Since '75, Pius has been outscored by an average of 21-6, has
been shut out in 10 of the 21 meetings, ...
