Family cooks have it harder today, but perhaps they also have it
easier than their parents.
Life seems more difficult because many households are run by
people employed outside the home single parents with jobs; two
parents with jobs. Even a parent who doesn't work outside of the
home finds much of his or her responsibility far away from the
kitchen.
But our preconceived notions have been altered, according to
parents who spoke at a recent conference in New York called "Harried
Lifestyles, Healthy Eating." It was sponsored by Oldways
Preservation and Exchange, a group that promotes healthful eating
through traditional diets.
