A few thousand people used a bright, warm Saturday here to
celebrate the city's 40th birthday and to see for themselves how the
city has turned farmland into growing businesses.
The occasion was Oak Creek's Business and Industry Fair, sponsored
by the Chamber of Commerce and held at the South Campus of Milwaukee
Area Technical College.
Visitors came to see what the city's businesses had to offer, and
also to view classic cars, visit exhibits and to have a slice of
birthday cake, a huge creation about 4 feet by 5 feet and more than
a foot high, baked and donated by baker Debbey Fischer, a member of
the chamber and an Oak Creek business owner.
