Article: Country Bank Shares agrees to sale Rockford's AMCORE announces stock swap for Mount Horeb banking firm

Rockford's largest bank holding company, AMCORE Financial Inc., said Thursday it would buy the group of Wisconsin banks held by Country Bank Shares Corp., based in Mount Horeb, in a $41 million stock swap.

The banks are State Bank of Argyle; Citizens State Bank, Clinton; Montello State Bank; and State Bank of Mount Horeb. The banks have nine offices and combined assets of $226 million.

Country Bank Shares is in the process of acquiring Belleville Bancshares Corp., the parent of Belleville State Bank, which has $38 million in assets.
