Article: Writing contest allows students to learn about a great King

This annual contest began in 1981 to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to encourage the teaching of writing skills to children of all ages. The competition continues through the efforts of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Writing Contest Committee.

The committee gratefully acknowledges the efforts of more than 4,300 students who illustrated methods of turning dreams into realities.

Many essays put a positive light on the struggles our students face in trying to understand the messages of modern society.
