A Wisconsin Center committee Thursday politely listened to a
litany of arguments from pro-Budweiser forces, then quickly
reaffirmed a policy of selling only Wisconsin beers at public events
held at Convention Hall, the Arena and the Auditorium.
The vote a show of support for Milwaukee-based Miller Brewing Co.
was largely symbolic.
Total beer revenue at all of the facilities will amount to only
about $500,000 this year, according to the concessions manager for
the facility. Budweiser would probably capture only a fraction of
those sales anyway.
Moreover, the policy does not preclude the huge private groups
that use the convention center from requesting whatever kind of beer
they want. ...
