Attorney General Jim Doyle says scam artists are getting away with
nearly $3 million a year from Wisconsinites now that the Department
of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has the job of
protecting consumers to itself.
However, an agriculture department official strongly disputed
Doyle's claim.
Bill Oemichen, consumer protection administrator, said his
division is recovering virtually as much money for consumers as
Doyle's Department of Justice did before the agriculture department
took over consumer protection duties.
The clash, sparked by a telemarketing case uncovered during the
holidays, is the latest in an ongoing political feud between Doyle, a
Democrat, and Republican ...
