Milwaukee Brewers manager Phil Garner called Antone Williamson
into his office late Sunday afternoon to give the news that all
players dread during spring training. Williamson had been
reassigned to the minor-league camp.
Garner also imparted a bit of wisdom that he hoped Williamson took
to heart.
"I told him, `Your offense is going to get you here but your
defense is going to keep you here. It's going to keep you in the
lineup when you're struggling offensively."
Williamson never has been accused of not knowing his way around
the batter's box. It has been a different story in the field,
