Thanks to a memorable effort by rookie designated hitter Todd
Dunn, the Milwaukee Brewers got to celebrate a big hit Friday
night.
It just wasn't the right kind of big hit.
With one out and nobody on base in the sixth inning, Dunn belted
a 3-2 pitch from New York Yankees starter Kenny Rogers into the third
deck in left field for his first big-league homer.
As impressive as it was, Dunn's monstrous homer couldn't cover up
another woeful performance by Milwaukee hitters with runners in
scoring position. That season-long shortcoming, coupled with a
shaky start by right-hander Jose Mercedes, sent the Brewers to a 6-
3
defeat at Yankee Stadium.
