Article: 2 communities could see water worries Elm Grove, Brookfield risk cutting themselves off from possible future use of Lake Michigan water

If Elm Grove and Brookfield eventually disconnect from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, they could end up cutting themselves off from a possible future source of water: Lake Michigan. Leaders in the two communities said that they were interested in exploring the possibility of funneling all of their sewage to Brookfield's treatment plant instead of the sewerage district's system.

Elm Grove and Brookfield may jointly finance a study to see if such a move would be financially beneficial to them and the sewerage district.
