But what really changed dessert history was when the brownie met hot fudge and ice cream. That was the birth of the brownie sundae. And that combination of fudge-on-fudge with ice cream in the middle is just about the most indulgent dessert one could imagine.

I can't think of any occasion that wouldn't suit such a sundae, so when I bake a new brownie, I always think about matching it with sauces and ice creams. I may pair white chocolate and raspberry brownies with raspberry sauce and raspberry ice cream or top peanut butter brownies ...
