Dana Jones' child-care home was one of the most popular in the
neighborhood until a day in March when someone made one phone call.
The caller, saying that she had been inside Jones' home, reported
to authorities that the children were "cussed at and jerked around."
She said:
"A teacher may have 10 to 20 children in their care at one time."
"The pantry is running low on food, and snacks are not being
served," and "Water leaks into the basement, where one to two
classrooms are located."
Three days later, the investigator also found this: At least 34
children were in the house. By state law, Jones was limited to
three children younger than 7 at a time.
