Krystina Herzog, jr., Racine Horlick: Finished just behind Burgard with 11-dive total of 396.15. Carina Tennessen, sr., Racine Horlick: Strong swimmer who finished second in 100 butterfly and fourth in 200 individual medley in Division 1 last year. Nicole Kohrt, jr., Nicolet: Good distance swimmer who finished third in 500 freestyle and fifth in 200 freestyle in Division 1. Melissa Schweinert, sr., Menomonee Falls Sussex Hamilton: Won 100 breaststroke and finished sixth in 200 individual medley in Division 1. Megan Grunert, so., Menomonee Falls Sussex Hamilton: Finished a surprising second to teammate Schweinert in 100 breaststroke. Both combine to form a solid 1-2 punch for Falls Hamilton. Meghan Purvis, sr., Shorewood: Earned three first-place medals last year at the Division 2 state meet and also set a meet record in 100 breaststroke. Will be counted on even more heavily this year. Erin Prasse, sr., Brookfield East: Finished third in 1-meter diving competition in Division 2 last year. Mandy Mueller, so., New Berlin West: Diver who already has one victory this season. Finished fifth as a freshman last year at the state meet. Melissa Loehndorf, sr., Germantown: Set meet records in 200 and 500 freestyle as a sophomore in 1985; finished second in each to Shorewood's Jamie Belfor last year. Look for her to be among top swimmers once again this year. Andrea Wanezek, sr., Brookfield East: Another swimmer who had a disappointing showing last year at the state meet, finishing second in 100 butterfly and seventh in 100 freestyle. Look for her to regain her form this season, as well. Renee Porter, jr., Wauwatosa West: Burst onto scene with an impressive victory over Shorewood's Carollo in 100 freestyle and a second-place finish in 50 freestyle in Division 2 last year. Lindsey Highstrom, jr., Cedarburg: Her dominant performance at state last year will be difficult to repeat. Set meet record in 200 individual medley with time of 2:04.63, rested one event, then returned to set another in 100 butterfly with time of 56.09. Ellen Minga, sr., Greendale: Finished sixth in 200 individual medley in Division 2; also competed in 100 freestyle. Expected to be stronger this season. Kelly Mackus, sr., Brookfield Central: Fourth-place finish in 200 individual medley and third place in 500 freestyle in Division 2 last year. Team leader who will again need to come up big for Lancers.

Much of the anticipated success of Shorewood's girls swimming team rested on the shoulders of senior Anna Carollo this season. But apparently they just weren't strong enough. And now, as a result, a fourth straight Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 2 team title for the Greyhounds isn't such a sure bet.

Carollo, who set the state-meet record in the 50-yard freestyle as a sophomore, missed much of last season with injuries to both shoulders. She returned in time for the state meet, finishing third in the 50 freestyle and also swimming on Shorewood's record-setting 400 freestyle relay and its 200 medley relay, which also was victorious.
