Stunning. Spectacular. Awesome. Magnificent. Spine-tingling.

Pick a superlative, any superlative. Put them all together, for that matter, and you've still got an understatement.

It's impossible to convey, in a few words, the sensory overload one experiences while walking Whistling Straits, the sweeping, links-style course that Pete Dye is building for Herb Kohler just north of Sheboygan.

I have not seen all of Dye's courses, nor do I profess to be an expert in golf course architecture. But I wouldn't be surprised if Whistling Straits is someday considered Dye's legacy course, the crowning achievement of his remarkable career.
