He helped put this island on the map, spinning prize-winning
novels by day in a sprawling Spanish Colonial house while filling
the sleepy fishing village's nights with bravado and bonhomie.
But now an unseemly spat has developed over Ernest Hemingway's
larger-than-life legend and its deep ties to Key West.
This spring, a 16-year-old Hemingway Festival was canceled then
restarted after the writer's three sons told organizers they had
licensed their father's name and wanted 10% of the proceeds.
The tiff has gone to court. The current owners of Hemingway's
Key West house, who have run the home as a tourist attraction for
decades, have asked a judge to block any attempt by the sons to claim
