Ask 11-year-old Billy O'Connell, whose 5-foot-7, 215-pound frame makes him ineligible for the Pony League, much to the frustration of his father.

"These other boys are getting a chance to play in games and my boy isn't," said Daniel O'Connell, of South Range. The independent league, which has eight teams throughout the Superior and Maple school districts, has a weight limit of 165 pounds. Players who exceed the limit may practice with their teams and suit up, but they must remain on the sidelines during the games.
