Article: UW welcomes Dayne's return Running back will play against San Jose State

The University of Wisconsin's sluggish offense got a much needed boost Monday when coach Barry Alvarez announced that running back Ron Dayne had been cleared to practice immediately.

Dayne, who suffered a pinched nerve in training camp and then aggravated the injury in the Badgers' season-opening 34-0 loss to Syracuse in the Kickoff Classic, will play Saturday when the Badgers travel to San Jose State. Dayne was held out of Wisconsin's 28-24 victory over Boise State on Saturday at the recommendation of the team's doctor.
