A drop in body temperature in the evening may be the trigger that
it is time to go to sleep, according to research at the Laboratory
of Human Chronobiology in White Plains, N.Y.
The findings prompted researchers to suggest that making a special
effort to cool down might help insomniacs.
One suggestion is to take a hot bath about 90 minutes before
bedtime. When the bath is over, body temperature will drop rapidly.
Researchers monitored the sleep under normal circumstances of 44
men and women of varying ages. Then the volunteers spent three
