No matter what happens to the Green Bay Packers, the seats at
Lambeau Field stay comfortably filled. It would be unthinkable if
it were otherwise.
Community theaters, however, are not so blessed. The Packers'
drive to Super Bowl XXXI last season played hob with community
theater attendance. So powerful was the Pack's pull that theaters
throughout the metropolitan area canceled conflicting performances
on Super Sunday.
This Sunday is free day for the theaters. The Packers have a bye.
Betsy Folsom, producer at the Waukesha Civic Theater, is sorry
that she didn't match her schedule with the Packers. The Civic
Theater will be as empty as Lambeau Field this Sunday.
