Baltimore School Construction Aid to Increase

Gov. Parris N. Glendening (D) announced last night a 40 percent increase in the state's proposed allocation for school construction in Baltimore, where several political leaders have criticized him recently.

When the state Board of Public Works meets this morning, Baltimore will receive $17.5 million for school construction, not the $12.5 million originally planned, Glendening press secretary Ray Feldmann said. The governor heads the three-member board, which allocates school construction aid.
