As star of TV's "The X-files," David Duchovny investigates
unexplained phenomena.
Well, here's a mystery for you why would Duchovny lend himself
to "Playing God," 90-minutes of recycled B-movie hokum unremarkable
except for his name above the title?
Few TV actors have successfully spun small-screen fame into
big-screen gold.
While Duchovny had a busy film career as a supporting actor before
"The X-Files," "Playing God" is unlikely to land him many more
leading film roles.
The actor is his usual droll self as a human train wreck, but the
effort feels passive. And Andy Wilson, the award-winning director of
the British TV show "Cracker," is stuck in the threadbare
screenplay's potholes.
