The growing problem of life-threatening latex allergies for health workers and patients alike has prompted a state legislator to propose a ban on the use of powdered latex gloves in Wisconsin.

Rep. Sheldon Wasserman (D-Milwaukee) has drafted a bill that also would set limits on the latex protein content of gloves and plans to seek legislative sponsors Monday. Oregon, New York and Minnesota are considering similar bills, he said.
