almost single-handedly led a revival of interest in mainstream jazz.
This virtuoso trumpeter, zesty educator, children's advocate and
all-around cool guy has become the most accomplished composer of his
generation.
As the trumpet-playing Pied Piper of jazz, Marsalis, who turns 36
today, has rallied a generation beneath the banner of renewed craft,
virtuosity and reverence for music.
Barely out of his teens, Marsalis recorded jazz and classical
