Slinger's hopes for a state football title slipped away as easily
as Nate Rogatzki and Chad Blahnik slipped through its tackles.
The Owls fell to Oconto Falls, 28-14, Thursday in the Wisconsin
Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 3 title game at Camp
Randall Stadium.
They were not only victimized by the talents of Rogatzki and
Blahnik, Oconto Falls' running backs, they also hurt their cause
with poor tackling.
And unfortunately for Slinger, the most notable examples came on
Oconto Falls scoring plays.
"As a coach, yeah, I think we should have (stopped them)," Slinger
coach Fred Spaeth said of the tackling. "We got this far and the
