George F. Kress, who founded Green Bay Packaging Inc., died of natural causes Monday at his home in Allouez. He was 94.

He donated millions to the arts and charitable institutions in Green Bay, was a friend of Norman Vincent Peale and a sailing companion of retired CBS television journalist Walter Cronkite.

Kress was "the most amazing fellow, very quiet, almost shy," said John Brogan, a Green Bay businessman and family friend. "He was the furthest thing away from the modern, in-your-face celebrity executive."
