Everyone talks about customer service these days, but whose job
is it to service the customer?
Traditionally, in most companies, customer service begins and ends
with the customer service department. After all, why would the
person running the milling machine, or the receiving clerk, or even
the accounts payable person worry about servicing the customer?
These people are hired for specific jobs where there is no direct
interaction with the customer. If this is the approach to customer
service that your company takes, it's time to reassess your position.
