A drastic jump in the Milwaukee Public Schools' dropout rate
prompted dire warnings in Madison about the future of the school
system. So how is MPS responding? It is proposing to study the
dropout problem.
This response has two flaws:
It doesn't look good. It looks as if MPS is putting off the
swift, bold action needed to deal with the problem.

Yes, MPS needs to better grasp the ins and outs of the dropout
