Chasity Melvin did everything she could to make a game of it.
She battled Alisa Burras and Priya Gilmore under the basket. She
hustled out on the floor to run down rebounds. She scored a
semifinal-game record 37 points.
But one against five is no match.
Louisiana Tech knocked Melvin and North Carolina State out of the
NCAA women's tournament with an 84-65 drubbing Friday night in the
Kemper Arena. Tech will play in the championship game Sunday night
against the winner of the Tennessee-Arkansas game, which ended too
late for this edition of the newspaper.
So, while Melvin was shooting her final free throws with just
seconds remaining, it was Gilmore who turned to teammate Tamicha ...
