Article: Council president loses some authority New Berlin aldermen vote to take away appointment powers for 2 panels

The Common Council Tuesday took from the council president the power to appoint some citizen members to government bodies by abolishing such appointments to the city's Board of Public Works and to the Technology Committee.

However, the council voted, 5-2, to allow the Common Council president to continue appointing a citizen member to the Electrical Review Board and the Crime Prevention Committee, although the current council president, Ald. Lori Kiefer, has not made appointments to either.
