Over the objection of residents who said they would never benefit
from the project, the Common Council approved the first step in
laying a $560,000 water main along Grange Ave.
The council late Tuesday voted, 4-3, to direct the Department of
Public Works to determine how much each of the roughly 30 property
owners on the avenue between Sunnyslope and Moorland roads will be
assessed.
Aldermen Todd Hesselberg, Ted Wysocki, Rush Wilkens and Jay
Zierhut voted to get the project under way. Aldermen Lori Kiefer,
John Karlovich and Evelyn Bakic voted against the measure.
Wysocki asked the council to consider allowing Grange Ave.
residents an unlimited amount of time to hook up to the city water ...
