A train hauling oil exploded in flames Saturday when it collided with an oncoming train on the outskirts of Cameroon's capital, state television reported. As many as 100 people were killed.

A giant plume of black smoke was visible through much of Yaounde on Saturday as rescue workers scrambled to extinguish the fire. The trains collided in mid-afternoon. Before the explosion, hundreds of bystanders rushed to scoop up oil gushing from the ruptured tankers.
