While mayoral races in the Cities of Waukesha and Brookfield have
attracted multiple candidates, most Waukesha County Board members and
school board members will run unopposed in elections this spring.
Tuesday was the final day for residents to declare their candidacy
and have their names listed on the April 7 election ballot, and if
necessary, the primary election ballot Feb. 17.
It appears the hottest races in Waukesha County could be for mayor
in the county's two biggest cities.
In Waukesha, first-term Mayor Carol A. Opel will face three
opponents, all of them aldermen, in a primary election. Her
challengers are Timothy Nekich, Thomas Harding and Carol J. Lombardi.
