Pilot error probably caused a midair collision that killed Oshkosh
businessman Warren L. Basler and three employees of Basler Turbo
Conversions and Flight Service, federal investigators say.
The accident happened last March over Manitowoc County as Basler
and photographer David L. Schacherl were flying near a newly
renovated DC-3 to photograph it in flight. Stephen W. Yantz, the
company's director of operations, and pilot Neil C. Hyerstay were in
the DC-3.
Both planes crashed, killing all aboard, after the Beech Bonanza
piloted by Basler struck the DC-3, says a recently released final
