Ray Crockett was doing fine at media day for Super Bowl XXXII,
joking with reporters from behind a podium at Qualcomm Stadium,
enjoying his moment in the spotlight.
He was loose and jovial, relaxed and glib.
Then somebody asked the Denver Broncos cornerback if he had
thought about what it would be like to be the goat Sunday.
You know, Ray, biggest game of your life, 800 million people
watching, and you give up the game-winning touchdown in the last
minute.
Crockett recoiled as if a bullet from Brett Favre had hit him
right between the eyes. His smile disappeared faster than Robert
Brooks on a hitch-and-go.
