Article: Ozaukee sales tax extension suggested Alderman in Port pushes for property tax relief

An alderman has proposed that the county sales tax, which is due to end in 2000, be made permanent in order to lower property tax levies in the county.

Ald. Ron Voigt, who also serves as the Ozaukee County register of deeds, proposed a resolution in the city's Finance Committee to make the half-percent sales tax permanent so that roughly $4 million in yearly sales tax revenue could be shared with municipalities for property tax relief.
