Article: Infections blamed on cheese curds E. coli outbreak seems confined to 3 counties

Cheese curds produced at a nearby dairy plant probably transmitted the potentially lethal E. coli bacteria that recently sickened at least 28 residents hospitalizing about a dozen in three west-central counties, health officials announced Wednesday.

Residents in the northwest section of the state should avoid eating any curds produced on or after June 1, said John Ryder, director of the city-county Health Department in Eau Claire. Residents of the rest of Wisconsin have little to fear, he added.
