Whistling Straits isn't scheduled to open until July, but the new
Pete Dye golf course on the shores of Lake Michigan already has
landed its first important tournament.
The PGA of America announced Thursday that Whistling Straits, a
Scottish-style links course just north of Sheboygan, will play host
to the 1999 PGA Club Professionals Championship.
The tournament is scheduled for June 24-27. The PGA also
announced that the 2000 tournament would be played at Oak Tree Golf
Club in Edmond, Okla. Oak Tree also is a Dye design.
"The PGA of America has made it a mission to conduct our
championships at the finest venues possible," PGA President Ken
