Changing leagues was unprecedented.
The primary problem that plagued the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday
was not.
Many of the flecks of gray in Brewers manager Phil Garner's hair
and mustache are a direct result of his club's failure to deliver
clutch hits with runners in scoring position.
The same thing happened in a 2-1 loss to Atlanta at Turner Field.
The Brewers, who were second-to-last in the American League in
scoring last year, combined to go 1 for 7 with runners in scoring
position and failed to capitalize on bases-loaded opportunities in
the sixth and ninth innings. They stranded 10 base runners in all.
