Don't expect Green Bay Packers wide receiver Antonio Freeman to
sign a multiyear contract extension any time soon.
Although the current round of talks between the Packers and
Freeman's agent have been relatively productive and the tone of the
discussion has been amicable, it appears that negotiations will
continue well into training camp and perhaps into the regular
season.
"I don't think anything is right around the corner," team
negotiator Mike Reinfeldt said, "but I think we continue to make
strides."
Freeman, a restricted free agent who reported Tuesday to the
team's final minicamp of 1998, said of his negotiations: "It's about
