Article: Bull market doesn't match strong run of 1923-'29

Nearly 16 years into a long-term bull market, stocks have advanced further than during any equivalent period of the 20th century, including the legendary 1942-'72 bull run that ultimately saw prices climb 14-fold over a 30-year period.

As measured by the S&P 500 index, the average U.S. stock is now 10 times higher than when the bull market started in August 1982. That's roughly double the size of the advance posted at the same stage of the 1942 rally.
