Article: Citywide recreation tax in Franklin proposed School district would like more funds for programs, but some council members are concerned about the plan

Little enthusiasm was expressed by the Common Council Monday for a Franklin School District proposal to levy a citywide tax for district-operated recreation programs.

By having a citywide tax, residents, who live outside the Franklin School District but within city limits, would not have to pay a supplemental fee for recreation programs.

"Our goal would be to have one charge for programs and not have to fragment the community by which school district they live in," Brad Anderson, Franklin community education and recreation director, said in a letter to the city.
