Fifth-year coach Mike Deane calls this the strongest schedule he
has ever had.
But despite six scheduled opponents that played in the NCAA
tournament in 1998, Marquette University men's basketball is on
national TV just twice in the 1998-'99 season: Jan. 3 at Cincinnati
and Feb. 21 at Memphis. Both games are on ESPN2.
Marquette is on ESPN regional television twice, and its local
television package with Midwest Sports Channel will be announced
next week.
What Marquette lacks in national exposure it makes up for in fun,
November non-conference trips. After two exhibition games at home,
the Golden Eagles open the season Nov. 14 at Boston College.
