Wooden blinds and wood-look blinds are stirring up the greatest interest in custom window blinds today, and painted styles in shades of white, cream and ivory are the hottest of the hot.

That's the word from Janet Birch, manager of color and design with Springs Window Fashions in Middleton. Wood and wood-look blinds give much the same feeling to a room as interior shutters, but shutters are heavier and more permanent, she said. Wood-look blinds are made of extruded plastic embossed to look like wood grain and are impenetrable to moisture. That makes them useful in kitchens, baths and other areas where humidity may be a concern.
