Article: Black bottom pie is a legacy of UW-Madison chef

More than 40 readers sent recipes for black bottom pies as requested by Margaret Chaney, Milwaukee, who wanted a recipe used at the University of Wisconsin-Madison cafeteria 25 to 30 years ago.

They included: Dorothy W. Betlach, Janesville, Rhea Yovanovich, Port Washington, Jo Spoerle, Watertown, and Vera Ludwigsen, Hartland.

Betlach said her recipe was from "from my Carson Gulley cookbook, revised in 1956."
