As required by the rules of the game, the Milwaukee Brewers were given their full allotment of 27 outs Thursday night.

But, basically, they were finished after six.

Setting the tone by leaving the bases loaded in the first and second innings, the Brewers spent a frustrating evening at County Stadium that culminated in a 7-2 interleague loss to Cleveland.

The final tote board registered 15 men left on base for the Brewers, a season high in futility. Nine runners were left in scoring position.

"We had our chances and didn't do it," manager Phil Garner said. "We struck out a lot of times. We couldn't put the ball in play when we had to."
