Cheese plant in E. coli case reopens today But state prohibits firm from making any products with unpasteurized milk

A Chippewa County cheese plant shut down after it was identified
as the source of cheese curds tainted with E. coli bacteria that
sickened dozens of people will reopen today.
Under the terms of a conditional license granted to Cloverleaf
Cheese Inc., of Stanley, the company is prohibited from producing and
selling cheese curds or any products made with raw, unpasteurized
milk, said state Agriculture Secretary Ben Brancel.
"We won't let them make those products anymore," Brancel said.
"Everything from that plant will be pasteurized."
The tainted curds were infected with E. coli bacteria that came to
the plant in raw milk that apparently was not pasteurized.
