Parents accustomed to screening their children's snacks for peanuts also need to be vigilant about nuts that grow on trees, according to a study in a recent issue of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

The study found that one-third of the children who are allergic to peanuts are also allergic to tree nuts such as walnuts, almonds and pecans, suggesting that such children should be wary of any nutty snacks.
